Project Overview & The Challenge

This maintenance shut project at Fonterra’s Pahiatua facility focused on delivering essential weatherproofing upgrades to the parapet on the P3 dryer building.

The selection of materials was of key importance, alongside the ability for our supply chain to mobilise quickly.

The challenge was significant: the building stands over 30 metres high, requiring extensive manual handling and the use of a 100-tonne crane to move equipment and materials safely and efficiently.

The Solution

Our team installed a new system featuring an Equus TPO membrane and custom-made Colorsteel flashings – delivered in collaboration with DLA, Equus, and Turfrey.

To ensure a smooth and efficient installation, all flashings were pre-ordered and tailored to specification – eliminating delays and allowing the team to move seamlessly through the programme.

Despite the building’s height and challenging winter conditions, the work was completed to a high standard, on time, and without any disruption to operations – demonstrating precision planning and execution under pressure.

The Value

  • Partnership: With design and build at our core, we know how to work with our consultant partners and subcontractors collaboratively to deliver smart solutions, quickly. Our partners helped deliver a tailored, functionally appropriate solution.
  • Innovative planning: Working at over 30 metres, we safely managed complex logistics using a 100-tonne crane and manual handling strategies to deliver the project.
  • Planning: All flashings were custom-made and pre-ordered, allowing for efficient installation and eliminating potential delays.
