Life Health Foods – Chilled Facility Expansion

Tim Cockram Project Manager, Life Health FoodsWhenever challenges arose, FPC would have a solution in mind before we even asked the question. Their ability to respond to our changing design was excellent – as was the level of problemsolving, thought, and care on-site.

The challenge
Life Health Foods is a FMCG business specialising in plant-based foods for the New Zealand and export markets. Dealing with a number of products with a very short shelf-life, Life Health Foods is in production almost 24 hours a day – which calls for a robust, efficient and effective chilled area. The company looked to FPC for help overhauling their existing facility’s capabilities.
The solution
Stage One of the project was to build up Life Health Foods’ process kit, upgrade their electrical supply, and increase the size and capacity of the chilled area.
Space in the existing facility was limited, and food manufacturing had to continue on-site throughout – which introduced a number of complexities to the project. Critical controls and safety were paramount, and coordination and timing were also key aspects to this success of this project.
FPC’s expert site management meant production could continue throughout the construction period. With Stage One now complete, Life Health Foods is looking to roll into Stages Two, Three and Four, with FPC at the helm
The value: Our nimble and flexible approach
The FPC team was on-site within just three days of being appointed, ready to get McKechnie Aluminium back in action as soon as possible. We understood the importance of production continuing throughout the rebuild, and ensured every decision took that need into account.
