Fonterra – P2 Redline Upgrade
Whareroa, Taranaki
Harriet Gibbs Project Manager, FonterraFPC are obviously very experienced. They understood the project as a whole, saw the bigger picture, and worked collaboratively with us to deliver an upgrade we are very proud of. They knew exactly what was required at each stage, and brought in the right resources at the right time. When you’re working to deadlines like we do in dairy, that’s really important.

The challenge
When Fonterra needed to refurbish an existing milk powder packing room at their Whareroa plant, FPC were recommended for the job. The building needed to be re-roofed, partially replaced, and have a new clothing exchange added. All while maintaining high hygiene standards throughout the project.
The solution
Integrating the old building with the new was no feat. There were no drawings of the original building to work from, which meant new discoveries popped up daily as the old structure was pulled apart. The team put their expertise to work, problem-solving on the spot and updating the refurb designs to roll with the changes as they unfolded. To be approved as an infant formula facility, the building needed to meet uncommonly high quality standards. FPC knew those standards inside and out – making sure the upgrade surpassed them, and helping Fonterra get the sign-off they needed to continue producing products.
The value: Our unmatched expertise
From council consents to codes of compliance, FPC knew just what this project needed to succeed. We used our years of experience in dairy industrial builds to get things done to budget and to deadline, anticipating any challenges that cropped up along the way – and solving them before they even had the chance to turn into a problem.
